Welcome, parishioners and friends, to the parish website of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Parma, Ohio.
Holy Trinity Orthodox Church is a local parish community and part of the world-wide family of Christian Churches that comprise the Orthodox Church. The Orthodox Church is the “One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic” Church which is composed of individual Churches that were historically formed along ethnic and geographical boundaries, such as the Orthodox Churches in Greece, Romania, Serbia, Russia and other countries. During the course of the past two hundred years, as Orthodox missionaries and immigrants came to the New World, the cultural trappings of Orthodox communities have acclimated to new surroundings. Today Orthodox Churches are spiritual homes for all races and ethnic groups and have become vital witnesses of authentic Christianity in North America.
Holy Trinity Church in Parma, Ohio is a member of the Diocese of the Midwest within the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). Information about the OCA can be found on the Church’s website (oca.org). Holy Trinity Church will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2013. The growth of the parish was blessed to be guided by the long pastorate of Fr. Vladimir Berzonsky, who founded the parish together with energetic and dedicated laity.
Fifty years is not a long period of time, but much has taken place at Holy Trinity Church. After many years of planning a magnificent new Church building was erected and decorated with outstanding iconography. It is a glorious tribute to the dedication and sacrifices of the founders. Their sons and daughters, together with newcomers, now continue to pray, study and work together “as members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone” (Eph. 2.20).
What has not changed is that from the beginning the parish has been characterized by three fundamental principles: 1) a studious adherence to the Holy Scriptures in a language and manner that is understandable, 2) a commitment to the liturgical practices and teachings of the Orthodox Christian tradition, and 3) development of a community that is welcoming and charitable to all.
We hope that you will find this website informative and enjoyable. Please join us for worship and fellowship (schedule of services and activities are available here). If you need more information or have any questions regarding the parish or Orthodox Christianity, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely yours in Jesus Christ,
